Chris Brown is planning to use the legal system to fight for his allegedly good name.
The singer, who was arrested on Monday for rape and drug possession, was set free a day later by authorities in Paris and told he is permitted to return to the United States.
It's still possible that the French police will pursue these charges against the singer... but it's unlikely.
One can safely assume that prosecutors would have kept Brown in custody if they had the evidence to convict him.
As for what led to the arrest?
A 24-year old woman alleges that she met Brown at a club on January 15 and then went back to his hotel suite in Paris.
This woman told Closer Magazine that Brown grabbed her in the bathroom at one point, led into her "a sort of dressing room" and committed a "brutal [and] violent]" assault for about 25 minutes.
She also claims she was "abused" by one of Brown's friends and a bodyguard.
Now, on the heels of Brown being let go, attorney Raphael Chiche has issued a strong statement in support of his client.
"Chris Brown is free," the lawyer said last night, adding of what transpired and of what he plans to do:
"No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously challenges the charges against him. A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor of Paris."
We, of course, aren't about to say one way or the other here whether Brown is guilty of this crime.
And we'd be mightly pissed if we were falsely accused of rape, that's for sure.
But there's something ironic and tragically funny about Brown trying to argue that anyone can slander his reputation -- considering his past of violence against women.
We all known Brown beat Rihanna to a bloody pulp in 2009.
We know he was arrested in 2016 for assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly pulled a gun on a woman named Baylee Curran.
It's hard to defame someone's character when that someone is known for having an awful character, is basically what we're saying.
Brown, meanwhile, didn't help this cause much when he shared the following image on Instagram on Tuesday:
Along with the since-deleted photo and message, Brown wrote:
I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR...... THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP!
NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!! FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!
Again, Brown may very well be innocent here.
But against his character and morals?!?
If there's one celebrity you'd expect to commit rape at some point, would it not be Chris Brown?!?
