Jersey Shore Family Vacation was always destined to result in a breakup or two, but we never imagined that the marriage of Jenni “JWoww” Farley would be one of the casualties.
Yes, in case you haven’t heard, earlier this week, Farley filed for divorce from her husband, Roger Mathews.
The move shocked fans, as Jenni and Roger’s appeared to be one of the most stable Shore relationships.
(Of course, that bar has been set pretty low by the likes of Ronnie Magro and Jen Harley, but that’s a conversation for another time.)
Anyway, it seems that Jenni’s decision to end her marriage had nothing to do with any cheating or abuse on Roger’s part.
Rather, as Roger explains in the video below, the couple simply “fell into repetitive pattern” that didn’t work for either of them.
Yes, Mathews is being 100 percent candid with his Instagram followers on the issue of his marital difficulties.
He’s confirmed that Jennis has filed for divorce, but he says he still hopes that their relationship can be salvaged.
Cementing his place as the most likable of the likable Shore husbands, Roger even opened his video with a joke:
“Alright, so here you go bloodthirsty bastards who have to know what’s going on,” Mathews said.
“You’re the same people who go to a hockey game to see a fight break out and go to Nascar to see somebody wreak in a car and get mangled.
“Nah, I’m kidding some of you are probably actually genuinely concerned. I appreciate that.”
Mathews added that he’s “not done fighting” for his marriage.
“I am going to win my wife back,” Roger said.
“I’m going to win her affection back, I am going to win her love back.
“I have no intentions on being a single dad. We’re in counseling so there is hope. It ain’t over ’till the fat lady sings.”
Mathews captioned the video:
“Praying for a better tomorrow. Sorry world, I’m taking a day off from praying for you today and I’m just gonna pray for my family. Hope springs eternal.”
Yes, folks, it’s the rare reality TV breakup that legitimately bums us out.
It’s tough to tell through the lens of a show like Shore, but it always seemed that Jenni and Roger were genuinely in love, and genuinely committed to making their marriage work.
Regardless of which path they choose, we wish all the best for Jenni and Roger going forward.
