Changes are afoot for the Royal Family.
Fans of the family were left wondering what the heck was going on at Buckingham Palace when it emerged that an emergency meeting was held.
Considering the sheer amount of publicity the family receives, people were keeping an eye on the news for updates.
What the heck could it be, you ask?
It actually involved Prince Philip and his decision to retire from public events.
A statement was released Thursday morning by Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary confirming the news.
Prince Philip "has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision, The Duke has the full support of The Queen."
The Duke of Edinburgh, "will attend previously scheduled engagements between now and August, both individually and accompanying The Queen," the statement continued.
"Thereafter, The Duke will not be accepting new invitations for visits and engagements, although he may still choose to attend certain public events from time to time."
"The Duke of Edinburgh is Patron, President or a member of over 780 organizations, with which he will continue to be associated, although he will no longer play an active role by attending engagements," the statement continued.
"Her Majesty will continue to carry out a full program of official engagements with the support of members of the Royal Family."
Some publications felt uneasy about the way the night time meeting came about, questioning what the motive was surrounding it.
"Although meetings involving the entire household are occasionally called, the way this has been done at the eleventh hour is highly unusual and suggests that there is something major to be disseminated," a source told the Daily Mail.
"But at the moment, only those closest to her genuinely know what on Earth this is all about."
