When the world first learned that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were getting divorced, many fans of celebrity gossip immediately wondered what Jennifer Aniston would have to say.
After all, Pitt and Jolie’s relationship began while he was still married to Aniston.
However, fans who expected her to indulge in any public gloating clearly don’t know Jen.
There have been reports of Aniston telling a friend that the Brad and Angelina split is “karma,” and who could blame her for making such an observation?
But you’ll almost certainly never hear Jen say something like that in public.
Unless, of course, she’s forced to comment on the situation under oath.
Yes, according to Radar Online, Angelina Jolie’s attorneys are considering calling Aniston to testify about her own marriage to Pitt.
Shockingly, the idea was reportedly Jolie’s:
“Angelina intended to have her legal team subpoena and depose Jen,” an insider reveals to the site.
“She wanted to have her grilled regarding Brad’s past drug and alcohol abuse.”
Based on the past tense language used by the source, we’re guessing the Jolie legal team abandoned that idea, but there’s still no official word.
We may not know for sure if Jen will get called into for the most awkward deposition ever until the hearing actually takes place.
Pitt’s attorneys will probably try to speed things along and make that hearing happen sooner rather than later.
Right now, Angie has sole physical custody of the couple’s six kids per the terms of a temporary agreement.
The decision to separate was reportedly prompted by an altercation between Pitt and his eldest son, Maddox.
Pitt was investigated for child abuse, and until the allegations against him are proven or disproven, Jolie has all the leverage.
“Brad was in an impossible situation,” famed divorce attorney Raoul Felder tells Radar.
“No matter what happened, there was nothing positive in it for him.”
Felder adds:
“The charges that have been made against him may or may not be based in fact. We still don’t know — and Angelina’s played him like a violin.”
So yeah, Brad would probably like to see this thing get settled ASAP.
And Jen may be forced to walk right into the middle of a seriously ugly situation.
