Tamar Braxton has been forced to withdraw from Dancing with the Stars following a last-minute return - and surprise reprieve - Monday night.
A recent health scare nearly forced Braxton to check out from more than just the ABC dance competition, though. She's lucky to be alive.
Braxton missed the first half of Monday's episode, then returned in mid-show to compete and avoid a mandatory elimination a la Kim Zolciak.
In turn, this led to some of the most shocking Dancing with the Stars results in years as Alexa PenaVega was ousted despite a PERFECT score.
Tamar, at the bottom of the leaderboard, seemed like the obvious choice to go home anyway, and now she will be - via doctor's orders.
The artist was originally diagnosed in the ER with a case of pneumonia, but it turns out she actually had blood clots on both sides of her lungs.
She nearly died as a result of this condition earlier this week.
"I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn't the case," Braxton wrote on Instagram.
She remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive.
If you watch Dancing with the Stars online, you know this is the second time a health scare has forced a contestant to drop out this season.
Several weeks prior to Tamar, Kim Zolciak was blindsided to learn that she had been sent home after missing a performance due to a stroke.
Like Braxton, Zolciak is expected to recover fully at least, which is what it's all about. The Mirror Ball is great, but health has to come first.
Here's wishing Tamar all the best during this ordeal.
