GIBBS LIVES!
Okay, this wasn’t exactly the most shocking development on NCIS Season 13 Episode 1. Did any fan out there really think Mark Harmon’s main character would die from his gun shot?
But the question viewers must now ask is whether Gibbs is actually happy with his fate. Does he want to live?
While lying on board the U.S.S. Daniel Webster, Gibbs was visited by the ghost of Mike Franks, who said his pal “never saw it coming” and added: What does that say about us?
Jon Cryer guest-starred on the NCIS premiere as Dr. Cyril Taft, an ex-chief trauma surgeon at Walter Reed who was once asked to be the President’s physician.
Throughout surgery, Gibbs pictured Most Wanted posters of all the people he has lost in his life. This includes his daughter, Kelly, who leads Gibbs to the beach and to Shannon and who said:
“We don’t have good days now. You spend too much time thinking about the past…. Things are different. It’s about the future now.”
But Gibbs survived the surgery and then we jumped ahead a few months, seeing him resume work. He’s stuck on “administrative duty” and discovers that Tony and Teague have tracked Daniel Budd to Shanghai.
Anxious to help, Gibbs drives a pen into imprisoned Calling member Michael Rousseau’s hand, an act Vance isn’t a fan of later on.
Over in Shanghai, DiNozzo and Teague break into one of the Calling’s bases. They find find Luke there tell him that Gibbs survived the shooting.
Eventually, Tony confronts Budd and cuts off a James Bond villain-like speech by shooting him in self-defense. He’s nice and dead now.
Upon Tony’s return, Gibbs blows him off. He walks away to meet with Dr. Taft, telling the surgeon that he’s “afraid I’m going to break.”
When the doctor point blank asks if Gibbs is angry at him for saving his life, Gibbs doesn’t really answer. He says he feels “alone.”
What will this mean for our hero on NCIS Season 13 Episode 2?
