Yesterday, actress Kelly Rutherford was accused of child abduction by lawyers representing her ex-husband, Daniel Giersch.

Rutherford has been fighting for custody of her two children for three years, but recently, courts in both Los Angeles and Monaco determined that the children should remain in Europe with their father.

Following a visitation period that ended last week, Rutherford was ordered by a judge to turn the kids over to Giersch’s mother who would then bring them back to their father. (Rutherford’s lawyers successfully fought to have Giersch deported back in 2012.)

Today, Kelly arrived to an emergency court hearing in NYC, but did not bring her 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter as instructed.

Sources who attended the hearing say the judge admonished Rutherford for her failure to follow a court order and rebuked her lame excuse that she left the kids at home so that they wouldn’t be photographed by the paprazzi.

At that point, reporters were kicked out of the courtroom, so no one knows what happened next, but it’s safe to assume that Kelly was ordered to have the children delivered to their grandmother as soon as possible.

There was a time when celebrities such as Kim Kardashian supported Rutherford’s cause, but at this point, she’s squandered much of that goodwill through her unlawful actions.

Now, it looks as though the former Gossip Girl actress can avoid criminal prosecution only if she immediately turns her son and daughter over to their father’s family. Story developing.
