Stop the presses! Someone from the Kardashian-Jenner klan is taking a break from unnecessary surgery? According to reports, that looks to be the case.
Footage shows that Caitlyn does not sound like a woman, but the 65-year-old star of I Am Cait has chosen to keep her deeper, masculine voice.
Jenner considered undergoing vocal cord surgery to feminize her voice; however, Caitlyn ultimately has decided to opt out of the procedure.
According to Radar Online, Jenner has been working with Dr. Lillian Glass, a renowned voice coach.
Dr. Glass took to her blog to open up about working with Jenner: “I had the opportunity to work with Caitlyn Jenner to try to help her feminize her voice, speech patterns and body language. Our session was filmed for her reality show I Am Cait.”
The segment hasn’t aired yet, so everyone is still wondering if Dr. Glass’ coaching was successful. An on-set source claims that the voice coaching was not as successful as Jenner had hoped.
Despite the possible let down, some are praising Jenner for encouraging transgendered people to refrain from vocal cord surgery.
The source says, “Caitlyn asked Lillian what she thought of the surgery and Dr. Glass told her that she does not recommend it at all.”
“Dr. Glass told her that the success rate is extremely limited with the surgery, and that she could ruin perfectly good vocal cords.”
The insider added, “She told Caitlyn that surgery could result in vocal paralysis and she could end up with a breathy voice that will not even be loud enough to be heard!”
For Jenner, it isn’t worth the risk.
“Dr. Glass also told Caitlyn that she could end up with Spastic Dysphoria from having the surgery, which is when the vocal cords don’t come together and don’t vibrate well,” the source states.
Caitlyn seems to have valued Dr. Glass’ professional opinion because she is no longer interested in have the throat surgery.
Besides, there is more to communication than the pitch of one’s voice. “Dr. Glass told her that she needs to work on her communication skills,” the source explains.
“Being feminine isn’t just having a soft voice. Caitlyn needs to practice on gesturing, inflection, body language and other skills.”
The source also mentions, “And to really start to sound like a woman, Dr. Glass recommended that she would need about three months of vocal training twice a week.”
