It’s been less than a month since Kate Middleton gave birth to Princess Charlotte, and the Duchess is reportedly loving life as a mother of two in the secluded tranquility of Anmer Hall.
We’ve already heard that Kate plans to take an “extended” maternity leave this time around, and some royal watchers have suggested that she might not make any public appearances until September or later.
Unfortunately for Kate, she signed up for life in the public eye when she married William, and some of her in-laws are reportedly demanding that she do her royal duty.
According to OK! magazine, Queen Elizabeth II has decreed that Kate will be in attendance at a June 13 parade to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, whether she likes it or not.
“She thinks a month is more than enough time for Kate to take off before she should return to performing her royal duties,” one insider tells the tabloid.
“It’s a huge public event, an incredible pageant carried out by the Queen’s personal troops. Kate will be on show for it, dressed up in a smart outfit, with the eyes of the world on her.”
The Queen telling Kate to get back to work is nothing new, but this time she may meet with some resistance.
Sources say Kate is intent on taking at least three months for maternity leave, and she’s stated that she doesn’t plan on making any public appearances during that time.
Of course, that’s easier said than done. It’s hard to convince an 89-year-old workaholic that you deserve a few months off.
