That sound you just heard? That loud boom emanating from the ground?

It was the sound of Robert Downey Jr. dropping the mic after posting this morning for a photo with Diane Sawyer.

Allow us to explain…

Earlier this week, Downey sat down for an interview with British reporter Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

The actor thought he was on hand to promote Avengers: Age of Ultron, but was taken aback when Guru-Murthy asked many personal questions about Downey’s history of drug use.

After a couple awkward exchanges, Downey asked what was going on… said "bye"… and got up out of his chair.

Upon exiting the room, Downey told Guru-Murthy that he’s an okay guy and all, but the Q&A was "getting a bit Diane Sawyer-y."

So fast forward to an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael today and Downey striking the above pose backstage with Sawyer, writing as a caption to the image:

A corrective experience with legitimate journalism @kellyandmichael #dianesawyer #kellyandmichael #avengers #ageofultron #presstour #marvel #earlybirds.

Oh, yes, legitimate journalism. BAM! Shade. Thrown.

Piers Morgan, however, believes Downey acted in the wrong here.

He has referred to Downey as a prima donna for actually abandoning the interview instead of politely refusing to answer certain questions.

However, Guru-Muthy does have a history of crossing lines with celebrities.

In 2013, Quentin Tarantino flipped out on the reporter after being asked "why he’s so sure there is no link between enjoying movie violence and enjoying real violence."
