For Nina Dobrev, parting is such sweet, albeit necessary, sorrow.
The actress stunned fans of The Vampire Diaries this month when she announced that she will depart the series that made her famous at the end of Season 6.
And while the actual Vampire Diaries Season 6 finale does not air until May 14, filming on it is nearly complete.
As such, Dobrev has shot her final-ever scene as a co-star of Paul Wesley, a sad fact she acknowledged on Instagram today with the following picture and message.
"Just finished filming my last Stefan and Elena scene with the amazing @paulvedere /@paulwesley #Stelena #TVDFamily," Dobrev wrote.
The 26-year old star has portrayed Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries since the very first episode.
The character has been at the center of a love triangle between Wesley’s Stefan and Ian Somerhalder’s Damon for nearly the show’s full run.
"Elena fell in love not once, but twice, with two epic soulmates, and I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever," Dobrev wrote online upon confirming her departure.
Fortunately, we can always watch The Vampire Diaries online to see her as Elena (and as Katherine!) – and we also still have five more installment to go until she says goodbye.
