Bethenny Frankel has been excellent about playing the victim lately.
After crying about being “the wealthiest homeless person in Manhattan” and sobbing about living in five star hotel and corporate apartments, it seems that maybe she is making her own drama.
Not surprised.
According to Radar Online, much of this mess is her own making because she refuses to settle on the divorce with former husband, Jason Hoppy.
An insider states, “The divorce is being dragged out and the reason is all Bethenny.”
“She refuses to sign off on giving the Tribeca apartment to Jason. Jason has remained in the renovated loft, with Bryn, 4, since Bethenny filed for divorce,” the source adds.
Even though Bethenny has moved into another apartment since filming this season of The Real Housewives of New York City, she refuses to let go of the Tribeca loft she shared with former husband.
The source confirms, “Even though Bethenny has finally moved into another apartment, Bethenny wants the Tribeca loft sold, and doesn’t want Jason to be given the apartment as part of the divorce settlement.”
Bethenny, founder of the highly successfully Skinnygirl line, was the couple’s breadwinner.
She can more than afford a new place, so Jason thinks he deserves the apartment, especially since he did not initiate the split.
The sources explains, “Jason is refusing to budge, and wants to stay. The building offers excellent security, and he wasn’t the person to bail on the marriage, Bethenny was."
"Bethenny can more [than] afford to give Jason the apartment, and he feels he is owed it.”
On the season premiere of RHONYC, Bethenny returned as a full time cast member, and the narrative of her apartment was the main storyline.
Tearfully, on the show she says, “I’m homeless. It just doesn’t make any sense, and it’s so hard because he (Jason Hoppy) lives in there. This is a stranger, a person I wouldn’t even talk to on the street. That is very sad.”
“It will mess your mind up. The fact that I live in different hotels, corporate apartments, I’m totally without a home for over two years. And he lives in the apartment that I worked my whole life to buy. It just doesn’t make any sense,” she explains.
According the inside source though, this didn’t come as a surprise:
“It was no secret that Jason was planning on remaining in the apartment. Bethenny could have, and should have moved to a new permanent residence. Thinking Jason would just give in and move out, Bethenny was stunned he didn’t.”
Imagine that. Bethenny being stubborn. Shocker.
