A long-awaited sequel to the classic cult comedy Super Troopers could soon be a reality, and you could also be IN the thing if you help make it happen!
The comedy group Broken Lizard, the hilarious guys behind the 2001 hit, are attempting to get the follow-up made using the crowdfunding site Indiegogo.
A modest $2 million will get the job done, they say. Or at least get it started.
“We’ve been waiting for years to [make this happen]," Broken Lizard says. "The script is written and we’re getting all antsy in our pantsy to start shooting."
"There’s just one problem: While the studio has given us permission to make the sequel, and agreed to distribute it ... we need to fund the movie ourselves."
“So this is how it works: if we’re able to raise at least $2,000,000 in the next month, we’ll be able to get to work on a barebones version of Super Troopers 2 this summer."
"But $2,000,000 is the bare minimum we’ll need to get into production.”
Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, Kevin Heffernan, and Jay Chandrasekhar promise this will definitely be worth every dollar you ante up. How so?
- $10 wins you a “sweet digital-mega script" in return for your help
- $10,000 will get you an unspecified speaking role in the movie
- $25,000, hilariously, gets the cast to show up to your wedding
- $35,000 earns you a producing credit ... and a used patrol car
Should they receive more than $2 million, it’ll be an even “better movie” with “cameos from real Hollywood actors,” “more full-frontal Farva,” or “Kate Upton.”
Not sure which of those two we'd rather see to be honest.
Rumors of a Super Troopers sequel have surfaced for years, but Lemme hinted last fall that the fab five "were finally able to package everything together."
"Fox is going to distribute the film, but we needed to raise the money for it. We're close. There may be a Kickstarter launched to raise the last little bit."
Right he was. And you can help fund the movie here.
