No other series on television would dare to attempt what The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 12 tried to pull off.

Seriously, creators Robert and Michelle King must have been circus performers in a previous life – because the number of balls they attempted to juggle on Sunday night would have been impressive for any regular juggler.

Consider the storylines tackled on the latest installment…

RACIAL TENSION… As noted by CBS at the outset, this installment was filmed and written prior to the Eric Garner verdict in New York City.

The Good Wife featured Peter getting involved in the outcome of a not guilty verdict when it came to a pair of white police officers seemingly going overboard when detaining (and then killing) an African-American citizen.

The Governor went to the streets with the wife of the victim and a pastor and put an end to any riots before they could get started.

It’s easy to imagine Aaron Sorkin turning this angle into some kind of pedantic opportunity, but The Good Wife managed to make it respectable and realistic, without jumping on any soap boxes.

ANOTHER AFFAIR… A reporter had photos of Peter and Ramona, leading to Peter firing Ramona and saying goodbye to her forever. This also led to Alicia lashing out at that reporter during the State’s Attorney debate.

THE DEBATE… It actually got cut short because local stations turned to coverage of the aforementioned verdict, but Alicia and Prady held their own informal debate in the hotel kitchen during the break.

They got into some very serious issues, most notably the topic of race, as The Good Wife once again touched on a real life problem that no other show would dare touch.

Alicia seemed to win big points when talking about how her experience would pay off if she were elected and how she isn’t just reciting "poetry." She’s talking about practical steps to make the city safer.

NOT MAKING IT WORK… Alicia has been so focused on her race that she’s scarcely had time to be at the office. This meant she wasn’t there when ChumHum fired the firm because they didn’t handle the creator’s divorce well; or when Diane and Cary decided to hire David Lee back.

Alicia went off on her partners for making the latter decision without her and ended the installment talking campaign strategy with Elfman, while Diane and Cary talked law firm business.

So, yeah. Like we said: many balls were in the air this week. Many storylines were tackled, most of which rang very true to real life.
