How to sum up Nicki Minaj's 2014? In a word, booty.
The dominant female emcee wielded her famous backside like a powerful weapon this year - fending off haters, staging viral jiggle-fests, and earning a spot at number 8 on our annual Celebrities of the Year list.
Sure, Nicki's media savvy and rapid-fire lyrical talent didn't hurt, but it's moments like the premiere of the "Anaconda" music video that stand out when we look back on the year in Nicki.
The clip's racked up an astonishing 343 million views and inspired a slew of hilarious "Anaconda" memes, making 2014 the year that Nicki rode an old school Sir Mix-A-Lot hook all the way to the top.
Of course, it was a bumpy ride at times (though, fortunately, Ms. Minaj had plenty of cushioning).
In addition to a heated feud with fellow A-lister Iggy Azalea, Nicki broke up with Safaree Samuels (her boyfriend of 12 years), and she was even accused of using Nazi imagery in one of her videos.
But haters and tribulation are nothing new to the woman born Onika Maraj.
Despite all the opposition Nicki's third studio album, The Pink Print, put up impressive sales figures, proving once again that like a latter-day Missy Elliott, she's capable of dominating the game by remaining loyal to her unique vision.
The girl couldn't lose this year. Even Nicki Minaj nude photos were exposed as fakes, which is a big a victory as a female celeb could ask for in 2014.
Fortunately, she still gave us plenty of eye candy. Here's hoping Nicki retains her love of selfies in 2015:
