Katherine Heigl has made her return to television.
Following a successful run on Grey’s Anatomy (which ended in disaster) and then a very unsuccessful run on the big screen, the actress has now debuted as Charleston Tucker on NBC’s State of Affairs.
We met Tucker on State of Affairs Season 1 Episode 1 and quickly learned that her personal life is a mess – and for a very good reason:
Her fiance was recently killed in a terrorist attack and the assailant(s) is still out there and, oh, did we mention that her fiance was also the President’s son?
And that Tucker is the top presidential advisor to the President, who is portrayed by veteran actress Alfre Woodard?
Tucker begins each day by assembling the President’s Daily Briefing, which is a list of the most vital security issues facing the country. She and her team of CIA analysts then asses various threats, events and developments, all in the name of protecting America.
But Charleston just can’t shake her personal demons, most of which are centered on her fiance’s death and which also hide Tucker’s own major secret. She often engages in boundary-pushing behavior (i.e. lots of random sex) in order to avoind facing her grief.
