Olivia Pope is many things.
A Gladiator. A fixer. A fashionable D.C. power player who loves to drink red wine.
But the Emmy nominee behind this beloved character on Scandal wants to make one thing clear: Olivia os NOT a role model.
“It’s always funny when people say like, ‘Oh, I love Olivia Pope. I just want to be like Olivia Pope,’” said Washington on The View yesterday. “I always say, ‘Well, that’s okay… if you mean everything except sleeping with married men and just drinking wine and eating popcorn.
“‘If you want to dress like her, you want to talk like her, all that is fine.'”
Washington also received props from panelist Rosie Perez for posing makeup-free on the latest cover of Allure.
But Washington wanted to clear up that misconception.
“I do have some makeup on,” she said of the cover. “I want to be honest because I think it is unfair when we tell women they should look like something that is not real. So I do have some makeup on. Just enough.”
