Porsha Williams was apparently as surprised as we were by her demotion to a recurring role on Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7.
With the release of the new season's first trailer, and a not-so-cryptic message from the star on Instagram, we assumed Porsha is done with the show.
Not so fast, she says, assuring fans (which evidently she has) that it's not her final farewell to the hit series, or life ... just a new chapter or something.
"It's not goodbye, you will see me on the show throughout the season sharing and bonding with the other women," she said in a statement Wednesday.
"I promise to stay connected with my fans as I start an exciting new time in my life."
It was not until yesterday's release of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7 trailer that we learned of the somewhat surprising casting move.
While NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore and Cynthia Bailey will be series regulars, Williams will only be a "friend of the Housewives."
How's she holding up after being dealt such a sudden and crushing blow?
"After a long season of filming and giving my all, I was blindsided by the announcement from the network that I was demoted from Housewife Status," she said.
"Unfortunately, I can only be PORSHA, and portraying anything else would not be genuine nor honest."
We have absolutely no idea what that means, but good to know.
In any case, Porsha recently joined the cast for a group trip to Puerto Rico and is working on a new album (seriously) as well as her new gig with Dish Nation.
Amid Williams' demotion, Claudia Jordan is now on board as a cast member, while singer-actress Demetria McKinney will also be on the show.
In the Season 7 trailer, Williams is seen confiding with NeNe Leakes about her reported feud with Claudia Jordan, and her relationship with Kordell Stewart.
That would be Porsha's ex-husband. Look out.
Last season, of course, fans will remember that Porsha Williams beat down Kenya Moore at the hit show's reunion special, leaving her future with the show in doubt.
Through it all, she says she remains grateful.
"This is the beginning of a new chapter, and I will be giving fans & supporters another chance to watch my growth as I take on the world," she said. "Stay tuned."
You can watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta online in advance of the November 9 premiere, when you best grab a hat, and hold the f--k onto it.
