So… where were we?
The last time we saw Ichabod and Abby, the former was in a casket and the latter was in Purgatory. Talk about tough situations!
We picked up on Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Episode 1 with our favorite twosome telling viewers that it’s been a full year since we last saw them and that they’ve both lost someone they loved in those past 12 months.
Wait, what the heck?!? Did Katrina and Jenny really truly their makers? Did they pass actually through Purgatory and allow Abbie to leave?
And, moreover, how on Earth were Ichabod and Abbie free? And why don’t we know about it?!? So many questions. So few answers at the outset of the premiere.

Of course, if there’s one thing to remember, it’s this: nothing on Sleepy Hollow is as it seems. Ever.
Turns out, Henry had tricked our Witnesses into believing a long lie.
What really happened during the time that we’ve been away?
Here a few things we learned on the first episode of Sleepy Hollow Season 2:
- Ichabod was an apprentice to Ben Franklin, against his will and also against the will of George Washington, back when Ben was conducting his experiments about electricity.
- Also, electricity? It was just the byproduct of fighting evil, as the key Ben used was the key to Purgatory. Yup: If Franklin hadn’t been so focused on keeping the bad people away, we’d all still be reading by candlelight. Thanks, man!
- I shall consider myself punk’d. Oh, Ichabod. How we missed you.
- Jenny survived the car crash. However, Hessians dragged her to an empty warehouse. Once there, Henry read her sins and saw a sketchbook with a drawing of the key, surrounded by a coded message.
- Ichabod actually escapes from the coffin via a bomb he made and rescues Jenny.
- Thanks to Moloch’s mirror, Abbie and Ichabod are reunited. In real life this time.
- While the get the heck (Hell?) out of Purgatory, Moloch appears to Henry and shows him the Horseman of War’s armor… which Henry will control with his soul. As War’s fiery sword reflects off the old man’s glasses, Henry is transfixed, uttering, “Magnificent.”
- Throughout all this craziness, Mrs. Crane is being kept in a house by the Headless Horseman. Sees actually sees him as a whole man after he fastens the emerald pendant around her neck.
