When fans played the Fifty Shades of Grey fantasy casting game for the better part of a year, Jamie Dornan was likely not on too many wish lists.
A relative unknown, the Northern Ireland native wasn't even the producers' first choice; Charlie Hunnam took, then exited the role of Christian Grey.
He does bring an underwear modeling background to the role, though, and shows that he's unafraid to take it all (or mostly) off in Interview magazine:
As for the bathtub photo with only his red underwear on, a scene you would think would be comfortable for the former model, Jamie says it wasn't so.
That or he's just humble about it, but he swears he doesn't like his body.
"I don't like my physique. Who does?" Jamie Dornan asks Interview. "I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid."
Plenty of fans will like his physique as Christian Grey, we're guessing.
As for how he feels about portraying the iconic lead character from Fifty Shades of Grey, he says he's "happy to get a chance to play Christian."
Dornan got his first acting job in the Kirsten Dunst version of Marie Antoinette back in 2006, but it's been a long struggle to get where he is today.
He recalls how hard it is to land acting roles revealing, "I'd been auditioning for parts for years ... I never got any better at it. I'm crap at auditions."
"I know there are people who can walk into those rooms and make those lines sing on the page and get the job immediately. I wasn't one of them."
"I'm still not one of them. I still went a while without working."
"If you ever wonder why some actors end up taking s--t jobs, it's because they have to pay the mortgage - or because they just want to work."
Fortunately for Jamie Dornan, those days are over now ...
