Tuesday night’s Dance Moms Season 4 Episode 15 saw the continuation of several developing plot lines from previous weeks, and they were doozies.
As the girls continued paying tribute to Abby’s ailing mother, Maryen, the moms all felt the pressure of the imminent arrival of Abby’s new rival team.
Abby, dealing with all the emotions that come along with such a situation, developed dances for the girls that paid homage to her mom and her love of dance.
But being Abby Lee Miller, drama is never far away.
The pyramid is unveiled with Nia on the bottom, as Abby also takes this opportunity to announce that not everyone will be involved in the group number.
Kira realizes that the pyramid has nothing to do with results and Maddie is on the top because she made a lasting impression with the judges. Mmmkay.
If you watch Dance Moms online, you know it’s all about playing politics and favorites. Yet it seems even some of the pawns themselves don’t know this.
Tension rises more than ever on Dance Moms Season 4 Episode 15, however, with Abby’s mother providing an even more complex emotional element.
At Melissa’s, the video is going strong, while the dance moms are there with other moms from the studio who want their daughters on the junior team.
While Mackenzie is enjoying the shoot, the moms declare war and Abby leans over the balcony to listen and sort of gloat. These people are all insane.
The group dance is rehearsed; Maddie has the lead. Abby sends Nia after Holly, then tells Gia how Nia is sloppy. Holly isn’t happy with Abby picking on her.
Melissa has gotten a call from the owner of Larkin Studio. This team is a powerhouse and will be at the competition. This will be a new test, no doubt about it.
Before performing, Maddie admits to being nervous, but as she takes the stage, she shows maturity and does a wonderful job. Chloe is not at her best.
Larkin Studio takes the stage. They are older. Their dance is lyrical and looks rather elegant with its ballet elements. We could have a real rival up in here.
The only thing standing in the way of a 14th straight group win was the Studio Larkin piece, "Tears of an Angel," and that proved to be a formidable foe.
Maddy got first (no surprise), Chloe got fifth place, and the group routine got SECOND behind Studio Larkin, marking the end of the streak for Abby’s crew.
Somewhat surprisingly, Abby Lee Miller took it well, commending the girls for honoring her mother. Just wait until that "new team" arrives, though.
At that point, better grab a hat and HOLD THE F–K ONTO IT.
