Miley Cyrus is not lacking for confidence these days.
The singer – who poses in her underwear while wearing a shirt dotted with marijuana leaves in the new issue of Notion – tells that magazine that she once considered shortening her name.
“I was thinking about dropping the Cyrus and just being Miley, but there’s something powerful about the fact that my name now is like a household name,” the singer not-so-humbly says.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cyrus goes off on what she considers to be a common misplaced belief about her.
“People have this misconception of me that I’m just one of these kids on TV and that now I go off and party and I’m just this ratchet white girl, and I’m not,” she complains. “I work really, really hard, I’m just in a different environment.”
That environment has led to some major headlines for Miley recently, from her sexed-up appearance in a Big Sean music video to her… makeout session with a giant baby.
“I’m young and living and in L.A., which is everyone’s dream, you know,” the artist says in her own defense. “I’m living it to the fullest.”
In a recent chat with The Associated Press, Cyrus made a similar point.
“I think people forget what it feels like to be 20. People just evolve and that’s all that’s happened to me. But people think a mad scientist somehow cooked up this potion and turned me into a different human, which it wasn’t. All I did was get a haircut and buy some clothes.”
