It’s unexpected, but it’s true: Ben Affleck is the new Batman.
With the movie world still reeling from this announcement, and with Affleck set to costar alongside Henry Cavill in 2015’s Man of Steel sequel, Zack Snyder has issued a statement that confirms the news.
It reads:
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
Ironically, Affleck actually played George Reeves – the actor behind Superman on television – in the 2006 flick Hollywoodland.
But his casting in this upcoming blockbuster (which will bring back Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane) has raised many eyebrows, larely because Affleck’s previous attempt at being a superhero was universally panned in Daredevil.
With Affleck also attached to Gone Girl, we’ll be seeing A LOT of this star in major movies in the near future.
