Michael Vick knows he may never change some people’s minds – heck, the guy still receives death threats – but he called in to TMZ yesterday and sounded quite sincere:

The ex-convict of a quarterback says he’s a changed man.

Vick is involved with the Team Freedom Outreach, an organization that asks volunteers to play sports with incarcerated kids, and cites his prison time as the basis for making such a commitment.

“Sometimes it takes this … for a person to go through certain hardships … to realize what their purpose really is,” Vick said, adding:

“I think God placed it on my heart when I was incarcerated to come out and be the best person I can be and to help as many people as I can help.”

Vick plans on sticking with the aforementioned charity for a long time.

He’s met with Representatives John Lewis in the hopes of helping more children.
