Kerri Walsh Jennings is one of many athletes wearing their birthday suits for the ESPN Body Issue, which goes on sale Friday.
But this volleyball star actually poses twice for the special edition, once while pregnant and once whole holding her baby daughter. Both times completely naked, of course.
“I was really, really nervous. I felt exposed, not just physically, but with all of my insecurities,” the Olympic Gold Medalist said of the experience.
Walsh Jennings gained 36 pounds while pregnant and has lost most of it over the past three months.
“When I was offered this opportunity it wasn’t an automatic yes,” she said. “When I came down to it, I had the opportunity to do something uncomfortable. I think that’s an important part of life. It’s something new. I looked at it as a challenge.”
