Despite the inclusion of this event in the lives of Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman, the couple is splitting up. Two days after their separation went public, the singer has cited “irreconcilable differences” and filed for divorce from her husband of six years.
The couple reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement, as the divorce petition reads: “Earnings and accumulations of [Aguilera] before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation” will be considered separate property.
Aguilera is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s two-year old son Max. In her statement this week, the singer wrote:
“Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever.”
