Katherine Heigl made the right move quitting Grey's Anatomy.
Quitting smoking may be an even better career move, though.
The star is trying to rid herself of a nasty habit in a hi-tech way: "I use an electronic cigarette," she tells Parade. "I know it's ridiculous, but it's helping me."
Katherine Heigl is such a quitter ... in a good way this time.
Says the Life as We Know It star: "You feel like you're smoking, and you get to exhale but it's just water vapor, not nicotine. I've been doing it for six months."
"Smoking sucks!" adds the mother of 22-month old Naleigh. "The one thing I'd say to my kid is, 'It's not just that it's bad for you, but do you want to spend your life fighting an addiction to a thing that doesn't even give you a good buzz?'"
It's a valid argument.Heigl even puffed on a "smoke stick" during her appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman, then discussed how the habit started in the first place:
"You start once a week, maybe with cocktails with friends at a bar. Then you buy your first pack during a really stressful breakup and it's downhill from there."
Thanks to the e-cigarettes, it's uphill now. "You're not harming anyone and you're not harming yourself. I'm essentially humidifying the space," she says.
Way to go, Katie. We owe you special thanks.
