We were all set to make fun of Sherri Shepherd.

The View co-host is the latest in a long line of celebrities to flaunt her lost weight on a magazine cover, sending a message to some that you’re a failure if you haven’t dropped many pounds, while also not acknowledging that money plays a major factor in these success stories (personal trainers, chefs, etc.).

She also hates on Cookie Monster.

But Shepherd actually makes a couple salient points in the OK! article.

She doesn’t advocate starving oneself, or relying on a dangerous tool such as a cleanser. Instead, Sherri emphasizes the importance of working out and finding balance in one’s life.

“Sometimes I just said ‘I don’t want tilapia anymore; I can’t even deal with salad. I want M&M’s and Ruffles, and I’m gonna do it.’ But the difference was I was gonna get back up and go to the gym and keep my commitment. I never once felt like I deprived myself,” she said.”

Overall, Shepherd lost 41 pounds and dropped 10 dress sizes, all without surgery. Mighty impressive.

As she flaunted her new body on The View earlier this month, it was hard not to admire her commitment. If she would just punch Elisabeth Hasselbeck in the face, she’d be our hero.
