Tina Davis, the woman identified as the person who sent the text message to Chris Brown that ignited the infamous February 8 fight with Rihanna, is firing back at suggestions the alleged “booty call” text was of an intimate nature.

Davis, who is Brown’s manager, and who is also alleged to have had an affair with the star when he was just 16, issued this statement through her lawyer:

“The relationship between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown is that of manager and client. There has never been any other relationship.

The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports.

If the source of the false rumors is identified, legal action will be taken.

Given the nature of the legal issues affecting Mr. Brown, Ms. Davis will not be making any further statements.”

Whether or not Tina Davis had a sexual relationship with Brown is complete conjecture, but all signs indicate that she did send the text that led to his argument with Rihanna – and the gruesome chain of events that followed.

However, one music industry source insists the texter’s true identity remains a mystery – even to handlers on both sides of the alleged felony.

For the record, an LAPD affidavit states that, before their fight became violent, Rihanna “picked up Brown’s cellular telephone and observed a three page text message from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with.”

The messenger went unnamed in the official documents, but the identity of the text message sender could potentially come out – authorities have subpoenaed phone records – if Brown is unable to work out a plea deal and the case progresses.

In any case, we don’t expect that Davis will be playing a role in the emotional duet Brown and Rihanna are said to be recording in the aftermath of his alleged mauling of her and the couple’s subsequent reconciliation a few weeks later.
