Actress Jennifer Connelly, who recently finished with her latest movie, Blood Diamond, in Mozambique, says that the experience has left a strong mark on her and her children. So much so that she might follow the lead of Brangelina and Madonna and adopt another child from that continent.

“I know my elder son is very concerned about global warming, about energy, about oil running out. In Mozambique I took him around schools and he understood why the children had no books, paper, or light bulbs. He was so shocked and outraged by it that he wrote a paper for his school,” Jennifer Connelly told Britain’s The Independent.

Connelly also visited a local orphanage while she was there, and after that, she and husband Paul Bettany have been considering adopting.

“We absolutely considered adopting,” said the 36-year-old, who won an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind, in which she starred alongside Russell Crowe.

“We have a son who went through a separation of his parents, then a new stepfather and a new sibling. He’s had a lot of change, so I really have to be sensitive to him. One of the kids I became close to was older than him.”

It’s good to see that there are celebrities who actually spend time with and cherish their children (Britney Spears: rolling in grave). Connelly also thanks her children for giving her balance:

“I think I can honestly say now that I never fitted in until after I had kids. I had no balance when I was in college because I was trying to figure out what was mine and where I wanted to be and where I felt safe. Suddenly the answer was the love I felt for my son.”

If she adopted, that celebrity baby would join son Kai, 9, with photographer David Dugan and son Stellan, 3 1/2, with Bettany. In case you’ve forgotten what she looks like, here’s an absurdly hot Jennifer Connelly picture.
