Yes, you read that correctly.  A shark was the unfortunate victim of a Florida highway collision.

A sandbar shark was being transported in a tractor trailer in Volusia County, Florida, when the vehicle’s tire blew out.

The truck ran off Interstate 95 and crashed into a wooded area.  The shark was ejected from the tank during the crash.

Authorities told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that the deceased shark was one of four being transported.

Team members from SeaWorld rushed to the scene and rescued the three remaining sharks.  They took them to the Orlando park for the time being.

The sharks departed Marathon, Florida and were headed for a new home in the New York Aquarium in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
