Scotty McCreery just experienced what he described on Twitter as the "worst morning of his life."

And for a very understandable reason.

The winner of American Idol Season 10 and his roommates at North Carolina State University were victims of a home invasion inside their off-campus residence in Raleigh.

According to local TV station WTVD, the 20-year old was actually ordered to the ground by armed suspects who took cash, wallets and electronics. They told McCreery and his friends to face down and count to 100 as they made their escape.

No one was injured in the incident.

An American Idol champion, a reality show judge and a late, iconic artist all celebrate birthdays today.

Let's start with the former: Scotty McCreery is now 19 years old and we've heard he's enjoying the occasion by NOT falling off a concert stage for a change.

We kid, we kid. Watch Scotty during a live performance of "Love You This Big" and send in your birthday wishes right now...

Other familiar names turning a year older on October 9 include: Brandon Routh (33), Tony Shalhoub (59), Sharon Osbourne (60), John Lennon (1940-1980).

Forget the trouble with girls. Scotty McCreery had some trouble with a concert stage on August 10.

The American Idol singer took a tumble last night during a show in Bethel, New York, opening for Brad Paisley and falling off the stage around the 8:14 mark of the following video:

Fortunately, McCreery survived with both his body and his sense of humor intact.

"Dagum @BradPaisley pranked me again," Scotty Tweeted after the incident. "he narrowed up the stage on me for my last song."

The tour's crew had some fun with the mistake as well. They reportedly set up caution tape and orange cones around the stage at the show's next stop.

Missy Franklin is a new American hero, and now she's reaping the rewards.

A Gold Medal? Sure. Future endorsement deals? Most likely. But the 100-Meter Backstroke champion really hit the jackpot today when she received Twitter props from a handful of celebrities... including Justin Bieber!

  • Justin Bieber in Australia
  • Gold Medalist

"heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine. now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove," Bieber wrote to the swimmer this morning, which prompted the sort of response you'd expect from a 17-year old:

I just died! Thankyou.

American Idol champion Scotty McCreery also expressed support for Frankilin, Tweeting: "We're rooting for you @franklinmissy! Keep it up! #USA."

Franklin has earned an individual Gold so far and a relay Bronze. She has qualified for five more events and if she advances the finals in each one, she'll become the first female U.S. swimmer to swim in seven event finals in a single Olympics.

Scotty McCreery took home the Academy of Country Music Award last night for New Artist of the Year, proving once again that American Idol really does crank out successful musicians.

But can the young crooner fend off a challenge here from Luke Bryan? That singer is coming at Scotty hard in the following Fashion Face-Off, just one day after firing up the ACM crowd on stage with a rendition of "I Don't Want This Night to End," the second single off his 2011 album "Tailgates and Tanlines."

Two handsome young artists. One poll. One winner. You decide who it will be...

It's hard to think of two more contrasting crooners than the pair who took to the American Idol stage last night.

We had Nicki Minaj, who gyrated about and delivered an energetic performance of "Starships," scantily-clad outfit and all.

And then we had the season 10 champion Scotty McCreery, a laid back country boy who lets his deep, mature voice do all the work, in this case standing behind a mic and belting out a version of his new single, "Water Tower Town."

McCreery was also presented, as seen here, with a framed, enlarged version of his platinum debut album, "Clear as Day."

Scotty McCreery is having a good week.

The most recent American Idol winner was named Best New Artist at last night's American Country Awards, accepting the trophy via a live performance, as seen here:

The young crooner also watched his debut album, "Clear as Day," surpass 500,000 sold copies, a feat that took only two months to accomplish. It currently sits atop the Billboard Country Albums chart.

“It’s huge," Scotty said in a statement. "Every artist dreams of a gold album and works hard for it, so it’s a major accomplishment to have your debut album go gold. This is just incredible."

Way to go, Scotty M! We're very happy to see you overcome this Thanksgiving incident.

We still love you, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

Neither of these former American Idol finalists enjoyed a great Thanksgiving yesterday, as each was given a prime spot to perform - and each suffered through an embarrassing mishap.

FIRST, McCreery stood atop a float during the Macy's parade and prepared to sing a version of "The Trouble with Girls." But a recording of the track started a few seconds before the young crooner started to lip synch, resulting in the following awkward start to the performance:

He sang the national anthem to open the World Series.

Yes, it's been a very good year for Scotty McCreery, the 17-year old country singing sensation who has now come out with another new music video. This one is based around the track "The Trouble with Girls" and it features Scotty walking the hallways of a fictional high school.

"They're funny," Scotty said of the opposite sex in a recent radio interview. "You just never know what they're thinking, and they never know what we're thinking as guys, but that's what kinda makes that relationship thing and the girls and boys thing pretty cool. So it's kind of like a little puzzle. Like the song says, you've just gotta figure it out sometimes."
