Looks like the Britney split rumors were true all along.

The pop megastar's breakup with Jason Trawick was a long time coming - and it actually went down quietly and privately weeks before their public statement.

Britney once foresaw in a fairy-tale ending for herself and Trawick, who popped the question in December 2011. But by late 2012, she was no longer wearing her ring.

"Britney spent Christmas with [sons] Preston and Jayden. Jason was around for parts of it, but it was very obvious that they were not together anymore," a source says.

Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have broken up, the singer confirms.

The split follows weeks, if not months of rumors that the relationship was on shaky ground, and the same day as she confirmed quitting The X Factor.

"Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement," her rep, Jeff Raymond, told People this evening.

"As two mature adults, [Britney and Jason] came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends," Raymond added.

Spears and Trawick confirmed their breakup in a statement as well.

Britney Spears thinks having her fiance, Jason Trawick, as her co-conservator is a total buzzkill for their relationship and wants him gone ASAP, reports say.

In that role, he is in charge of her finances and other decisions; the singer has been under the legal conservatorship since melting down in early 2008.

“Britney wants Jason removed. He was appointed to the position when she joined The X Factor so that he could be with her at all times while on set,” a source says.

Asked who made the first move, Jason said,  “It was kind of one of those things where she moved, like, turned around, so we were face-to-face, and then-”

The future Mrs. Jason Trawick looks pretty unreal in the mag, but she admits that there are days when she'd rather not worry about her appearance.

 "I love my jeans and my sweats, I’m really just a tomboy at heart," she admits.

"So it’s really hard for me to be like Kim Kardashian and be makeup and hair-ready every time I go out of my house ... On the other hand, when you do wear those sweats, you’re like, 'Oh God, I should step it up a notch.'”
