Bristol Palin had a great run as a D-list celebrity. But it's over.

By choice or not, who knows. But following her appearance on the Dancing With the Stars finale, she realized life in the spotlight wasn’t all glitz and glamour.

As a result, she high-tailed it back to Alaska, where she works the reception desk at a dermatologist’s office in Anchorage and lives with son Tripp. Aww.

The turning point, Bristol tells In Touch (the official Palin family publication) came last September, when she was accosted at Saddle Ranch in Los Angeles.

After footage of the altercation went viral, Bristol Palin realized she was done with show business and that she’d never felt totally at home in the Lower 48.

“I wasn’t really into the Hollywood thing,” says Bristol, whose reality show was just nixed. “After that, I realized I was over it. I was ready to come home.”

The best interest of three-year-old son Tripp was also a factor.

Darn? Bristol Palin's upcoming reality show for the BIO channel is no longer upcoming. It's been scrapped, according to reports, leaving Bristol without a job. Oh well.

No official reason has been given as to why Bio axed the project, but if we had to guess, it could be because WHO WOULD WATCH A BRISTOL PALIN REALITY SHOW?

It's unclear if she's still dating Kyle Massey, but Bristol needs to find something new to do besides hilariously tell teens that they should really remain abstinent.

So what's next for the Sarah Palin spawn? Beauty school. No, really.

Sources reveal that Bristol Palin is looking into some beauty programs, as her new life goal is to be a Hollywood hair and makeup guru. A "friend" reveals:

“She plans to find a school near her home in Arizona so she can get away from the Alaska winter. After graduating, she'll look for jobs in the movie industry."

"Bristol’s realizing that her bout of fame and big-money job offers is dwindling since her mother isn’t in the spotlight as much, so she needs a backup plan."

"Right now she has money from Dancing With the Stars to live off of while going to school. Then she’ll try her luck in L.A. again, this time behind the scenes.”

Hard to blame her for that, actually, if it's true. So many people would try to milk their 15 minutes long past relevancy. Good for her for thinking of a Plan B.

We just hope Levi Johnston tries to enroll in the same classes to mess with her.

It seems like ages ago that her mom was named to the GOP ticket and Bristol Palin became a household name - essentially for being pregnant as a teenager.

Since then, so much as changed ... well, her face has. Not much else.

KIDS: They grow up and get plastic surgery so fast these days.

Between feuding with Levi periodically, amusingly advocating for abstinence, making the finals of Dancing With the Stars, battling hecklers and starring in her own reality show with possible beau Kyle Massey, her star is on the rise.

That's both awesome and very, very sad at the same time.

Sadly for THG, but probably best for America, Sarah Palin will not run for president in 2012, so Bristol won't be in the limelight nearly as much in the upcoming campaign. Still, we imagine she'll find other ways to milk her 15 minutes.

Levi Johnston is running his mouth again. This time, the occasion is his book tour (yes, we're serious) for Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs.

While there are no bombshells quite up there with a Sarah Palin-Glen Rice tryst, Levi does reveal more than Alaska's most famous family would ever want him to.

Some excerpts from a recent interview he gave about the book:

On the prospect of a Palin presidency: "'President Palin' is a phrase that scares me. She is apparently only 5 percent behind Obama right now and that's frightening me. I'm figuring I might have to move to Canada if she wins."

On his baby mama's book: "I didn't read Bristol's book (Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far). I heard a lot of things out of it, as far as "I'm a gnat" and how I stole her virginity. Her book is just flat out lying, it's disgusting."

Bristol Palin's recent run-in with a heckler was set up by the producers of her reality show ... at least according to her co-star and rumored BF Kyle Massey.

Palin got into it with a guy named Stephen Hanks at a bar on the Sunset Strip Thursday. Hanks insists the torrent of insults hurled at Palin was ALL him.

Massey's not buying that, however.

Kyle and Bristol Palin are starring in a reality show for the BIO Channel, and he feels it was just a little too convenient that this all happened on camera.

Massey feels the producers of the show were behind it, but that Bristol was legitimately thrown off by Hanks laying into her and her mother Sarah.

Kyle believes Bristol Palin would never have agreed to something like that and that she has been nothing but genuine and honest with Kyle so far.

In addition, Massey is not happy with the direction the show has taken, becoming "sleazy" of late. He says it's nothing like what he signed on for.

The show hasn't commented on the heckling incident. Palin defended her response (asking if Hanks is gay), saying she took the high road in all this.

Bristol Palin was just asking a question, people.

To hear Sarah Palin's eldest daughter tell it, she's not homophobic for asking a fellow bar patron last night if he was "a homosexual" after he heckled her.

On the contrary, Bristol Palin was the one taking the high road after being accosted by some guy, Stephen Hanks, who started berating her family.

"She was approached in a confrontational and inappropriate manner when two men aggressively shouted expletives aimed at her mother," her rep said.

"Bristol responded to the unprovoked verbal assault by calmly standing her ground and defending her family. The situation ended with no incident."

The rep said that regarding Bristol's response to the heckler, "accusing her of homophobia is completely unfounded and totally misstates her views."

After Hanks insinuated that Sarah Palin is a whore who belongs in hell, Bristol said, "Is it because you're a homosexual... that's why you hate her?"

The heckler then replied, "Pretty much ... why'd you say I'm a homosexual?" To which Levi Johnston's ex-fiance said, "Because I can tell you are."

Bristol Palin was hounded by a heckler last night in L.A., and while that loser said some truly awful things, her response was interesting in and of itself.

BP was at the Saddle Ranch for a little mechanical bull riding on the Sunset Strip when a heckler came up to her and shouted, "Did you ride Levi like that?"

That was funny. But unfortunately it turned ugly.

With comments like "Your mother is the f*%king devil" and "Your mother's a whore," the heckler stepped way over the line in his Sarah Palin bashing.

Sarah wasn't even married when she nailed Glen Rice, first of all. Get your facts straight. In any case, Bristol was understandably far from pleased.

She should never have to deal with such hatred. Still, her reply was odd, if not overtly homophobic: "Is it because you're a homosexual, that's why you hate her?"

The dude replied, "Pretty much ... and why'd you say I'm a homosexual?" To which Sarah's eldest daughter said, "Because I can tell you are."

Ah, the wit and wisdom of Bristol Palin. At least she didn't take a page from the Rick Perry campaign playbook and blame tornadoes on this guy.

In his new book, Levi Johnston claims Bristol Palin not only wanted to get pregnant, she did so to spite her famous mom, then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs is due out next week, and within its pages, Johnston airs more dirty Palin laundry than ever.

Considering it's what Levi does for a living, that's saying something!

Levi Johnston says Bristol Palin was angry when she discovered Sarah was expecting her fifth child (son Trig) and felt she should be the one preggo instead.

According to Johnston, Bristol told him in March 2008, "let's get pregnant."

Whether that HOT directive actually took place or not, he obliged all right.

Johnston also refutes Bristol's earlier claim that she lost her virginity drunk on a camping trip, saying they were sexually active earlier in their relationship.

He also writes that he was "too dumb" to use protection. That we believe.

In the Palin family, "T" stands for "family." That makes perfect sense, then, why Bristol Palin would get a cursive "T" tattooed on herself recently.

Bristol got the ink on her right foot, with her rep explaining: "T is for Tripp, Trig, Track and Todd," her son, two brothers and father, respectively.

Palin debuted the new tattoo, not that you can see it here, at a lunch date at Pink's Hot Dogs in West Hollywood, Calif., with Kyle and Chris Massey.

She is reportedly dating Kyle Massey, much to mother Sarah Palin's chagrin, and will be starring with him and his brother Chris on a new reality show.

Yes, we're serious.

Levi Johnston's sister, Mercede, continues to absolutely unload on the Palin family in quotes excerpted from her interview with Playboy. She just makes headline writing ridiculously easy ... not unlike getting in Bristol's pants, apparently.

The 19-year-old Mercede Johnston, known as “Sadie” to friends, sat down with Playboy to dish about the famous family that nearly became her brother’s in-laws.

Some new excerpts from the interview appear below:

On Bristol Palin: “Honestly, she is the meanest person. I didn’t know someone could be so vindictive and pure evil ... [She’s] a sociopath. She doesn’t think anything she could do or does is wrong.”

On Levi and Bristol’s re-engagement in 2010: “I don’t think Bristol wanted to be with him whatsoever, not at all. It was all about her using her body to get Levi to retract his statements, and it worked."

"They only wanted them back together so they could control Levi, have him say he lied so no one would believe what he said again ... Everyone who knows Levi knows everything he said was true and then some.”

On Levi’s relationship with Bristol: “Levi was whipped like Todd, because Bristol is very manipulative. She’d use sex to get her way on many things.”
