Giuliana and Bill Rancic have shared plenty of heartbreak with their fans over the years. Now they are doing the same with their long-awaited joy.

In tonight's episode of Giuliana & Bill, the couple visit their gestational surrogate and attend the very first ultrasound for their soon-to-be-born child.

"It's a little bit nerve-wracking because with IVF and with this type of a procedure, there's always a chance that there was a false positive," Bill said.

"We needed to see it to believe it."

With their eyes glued to the monitor, the doctor explains that what they're seeing is "the flickering of the cardiac activity of the heartbeat starting."

"That is just about the earliest gestational age where we can ever detect this."

Giuliana, 37, and her husband, 40, begin to tear up when they think about the long journey that preceded this happy moment they waited so long for.

Said an obviously choked-up Giuliana:

"Seeing that image on the screen is everything we had prayed for and wished for. We just couldn't ask for anything more right now."

"Looking at these first images, all these emotions from the past start rushing back. All the struggles, the shots, all the doctors visits, the tears ... just everything."

Giuliana and Bill Rancic, who have opened up about their struggle to have a child in the last few years, announced Monday that they're finally expecting a baby.

They've bonded with the woman who is making it happen, too.

"She is giving us the greatest gift we're ever getting in our lives," Giuliana, 37, says of the couple's surrogate, whose identity has not been revealed.

"She's selflessly helping make our dream a reality. We adore her."

The gestational surrogate is carrying their child, but it will be their biological offspring. Giuliana's struggles to achieve a viable pregnancy are well documented.

Asked if they plan to stay in touch with the woman once their child is born, Bill says, "That will be up to her, but we are very grateful for what she's done."

"We intend to maintain a relationship with her."

The couple admit they were quite nervous about picking a surrogate before they met the woman they chose, but they clicked with her immediately.

"Once we met her it was an instinct," says Giuliana. "We could tell she was a great person." Bill adds that the Rancics attend her doctor's appointments:

"We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered," the celebrity news anchor and Fashion Police member told E! this morning. Adds Bill, "We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey."

Giuliana and Bill, whose struggles to conceive a baby have been well documented, and includes failed IVF treatments and a miscarriage, appeared on Monday's Today show to elaborate on the details behind the pregnancy.

Says Giuliana:

"We received an incredible amount of love and prayers from viewers around the world and we want to take this opportunity to thank every one of them."

"It was one of the best moments of my life, if not the best moment of my life. It's incredible. We've been trying for so long, we've been through so much. And to finally get that call from the doctor, it was just another world, another level."

"It was pretty emotional because this was our last stop," Bill added.

Like so many women in her position, E! News host Giuliana Rancic can at least take comfort in the overwhelming support of her family, friends and colleagues.

News that Giuliana has breast cancer, revealed by Rancic herself on Today, has triggered an outpouring of support from fans - both famous and regular people.

Most significant of all is husband Bill Rancic, who Tweeted:

"Thank you for all your love and support today. G is reading all your messages. She will win this fight, I PROMISE, and be back better than ever."

E! released a statement of "love and support" to Giuliana and applauded her "for sharing her recent breast cancer diagnosis in the hope that it will encourage women everywhere to take necessary and preventative measures."

"Giuliana has chosen to talk about her breast cancer on E! News prior to her lumpectomy later this week," the statement said. "We are very grateful that thanks to early detection Giuliana is expected to have a swift and complete recovery."

The Style Network, which airs the awesome couple's reality show Giuliana & Bill, echoed E!'s sentiments with their own, similar statement:

Bill Rancic, The first Apprentice winner, heard those lovely words this weekend, when he wed E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi on Saturday on the Italian island of Capri.

According to People magazine, the couple exchanged vows at the end of a church aisle strewn with white rose petals and dotted with white candles.

"This is the real deal," said Rancic, who has attended church every Sunday with DePandi since the two became serious, "so we wanted a very old school, full Catholic mass."

After the nuptials, the pair arranged for buses to take the 190 guests to Capri's center piazza, where dozens of Neapolitan dancers sang and danced alongside the guests as they walked in a group, led by the bride and groom, to the reception at the Grand Hotel Quisisana.

This marked the second big celebrity wedding in memory, although it received far less hate mail than that of Usher and Tameka Foster.

One prominent person from Ranci's past was not present, however: his former boss, Donald Trump.

"His schedule didn't allow it," said the groom.

It must feel good to receive the attention and praise from Donald Trump that winning his reality show provides.

But for former Apprentice victor, Bill Rancic, none of that can equal the love of a beautiful woman. Especially when she's now your fiancee.

The up-and-coming millionaire popped the question to E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi Friday night - and she said yes.

"I thought I was dreaming," DePandi said to People magazine. "It was the most amazing moment of my entire life. Not only is Bill the love of my life, but he's also my best friend. I couldn't believe my dream guy was asking me to marry him!"

In a scene more worthy of a final episode of The Bachelor, Rancic sent a limo to pick DePandi up at the airport when she arrived in Chicago from L.A. Friday night. Instead of taking her to his apartment, the limo dropped her off at a nearby helipad.

He asked for her hand in marriage on a flight over Chicago.

When they got back to Rancic's apartment, DePandi was welcomed with rose petals scattered everywhere and chocolate cake. Lindsay Lohan was also set to pole dance for the couple. Just kidding.

DePandi and Rancic first met when DePandi interviewed the winner of the first season of Donald Trump's reality series more than two years ago. Upon hearing that, Aaron Carter said:

"Whoa, what took so long?"
