Barbara Walters used to be a respected reporter. Now? The aging interviewer hosts The View.

Recently, we learned that Sarah Palin is close to joining The View. Naturally, Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell have responded to this news in the only logical fashion:

They're desperately auditioning other options and getting really, really pissed off all the time.

Yesterday, for example, the cast sat down with conservative pundit and sexy teacher from an '80s music video, S.E. Cupp.

The View Cast

Cupp fills that "hot right winger" role that Republicans were hoping Palin would take on, until they realized she's both not that hot, and not smart enough to represent their party...or any party, for that matter.

You wouldn't even want her advertising your kegger.

Anyway, S.E. is guest hosting The View this week, and she did some un-televised trial runs to see how well she fit with the rest of the cast, and the answer is not well.

So not well, in fact, that she somehow caused Whoopi to go off on Barbara Walters:

Barbara Walters ended an illustrious, 50-year career in journalism today.

But not before receiving a visit from pretty much every famous female alive.

Oprah, Hillary Clinton, Katie Couric, Meredith Viera, Gayle King, Amy Robach, Diane Sawyer, Natalie Morales and Savannah Guthrie were among the celebrity guests who stopped by today's episode of The View.

"These are my legacy,” said Walters of the journalists. “And I thank all of you."

At the end of the broadcast, Walters wondered how one says “goodbye to something like 50 years in television?” joked about Botox, thanked her interview subjects and advised everyone to stop and enjoy the view.

Watch her final farewell now:

Somehow, Miley Cyrus faking oral sex on Bill Clinton is NOT the most disturbing thing we've posted on our site today.

Earlier today on The View, 66-year Barbara Walters said that not only does she use a vibrator... she's even given a name to her personal sex toy!

She calls it "Selfie" and she talks about it here and don't say we didn't warn you.

Walters, meanwhile, created a stir of a very different kind this month when she passionately (blindly?) defended Woody Allen against Mia Farrow's sexual assault claims.

The reverberations of Dylan Farrow's sexual abuse allegations against Woody Allen continue to be felt throughout Hollywood.

Over the weekend, the step-daughter of this award-winning director wrote in The New York Times that Allen abused her multiple times when she was a child, calling out specific celebrities in Hollywood for continuing to stand up for their fellow star.

Alec Baldwin has replied by saying the situation is no one's business, while Cate Blanchett has simply said she hopes the family finds peace.

Today on The View, meanwhile, Barbara Walters defended Allen by saying he's a "loving" dad to his two daughters with wife Soon-Yi, while adding that his sexual relationship with then-17-year old Soon-Yi (who was his stepchild at the time they started dating) does not make Dylan's accusations any more likely to be true.

It sure does sound like someone is in major denial here, as Walters' colleagues couldn't believe their ears. Watch the tense exchange now:

Barbara Walters had a diverse group of people to choose from in selecting her 21st and likely final Most Fascinating Person from this year. So who was it?

There was Jennifer Lawrence, a blessing with her great acting and great quotes, an A-list movie star who somehow feels like everyone's BFF.

There's new parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the Duck Dynasty cast (also in the news thanks to Phil Robertson), and obviously Miley Cyrus.

None of them topped the last though. That honor goes to ...

Hillary Clinton! She was the first person selected by Barbara Walters when she began her series of specials 21 years ago, so it was a fitting choice.

Yet also somewhat of an odd one, as Clinton stepped down as Secretary of State early this year and has been almost entirely out of the spotlight.

In any case, Barbara Walters says she's retiring after this year, making this the final Most Fascinating special. As for Clinton retiring? A lot less clear.

Will Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth get back together? We doubt it.

Not based on what Miley says in an interview with Barbara Walters, which will air Wednesday on ABC as part of that reporter's 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 special.

In the following snippet from that Q&A, Cyrus admits she moved too quickly with the Australian hunk and she hung on for too long… for all the wrong reasons.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," says the 21-year old.

Barbara Walters' always-highly anticipated "10 Most Fascinating People of the Year" list for 2013 has been revealed, with the notable exception of the #1 spot.

Miley Cyrus and Some Cleavage

Miley Cyrus, obviously, is on the list (she is also rumored to be in the running for Time Person of the Year) along with future monarch Prince George.

Speaking of babies, celebrity royalty North West was snubbed, though her famous folks, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are both on the list.

The lineup also includes Robin Roberts, A&E's Duck Dynasty stars, Jennifer Lawrence, Diana Nyad, Pope Francis, and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

If the current list of personalities are any indication of who will top Barbara Walters' final list before retiring in 2014, it's sure to raise some eyebrows.

Walters first began choosing her Most Fascinating People in 1993 and will include a "20 Years of 10 Most Fascinating People" segment in this year's special.

That telecast, and with it the #1 Most Fascinating Person of 2013, will be revealed on December 18. Who do you think tops the list in her eyes? And yours?

Barbara Walters is keeping her promise and actually retiring.

She'll announce today that she will step aside in May 2014.

Barbara W.

On Monday's The View, Walters will make the long-rumored exit official.

"I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead both on The View and with ABC News," she told the network.

"I created The View and am delighted it will last beyond my leaving it."

Barbara Walters is in the hospital at the moment, recovering from a nasty gash she suffered after falling Saturday at the British Ambassador's residence.

Multiple sources confirm the journalist opened her forehead as a result of the incident - but appears to be in typically good, upbeat shape otherwise.

"Out of an abundance of caution, she went to the hospital to have her cut tended to, have a full examination and remains there for observation," ABC News senior vice president Jeffrey W. Schneider told Politico. "Barbara is alert (and telling everyone what to do), which we all take as a very positive sign."

While a full recovery is expect, however, Walters will be unable to cover today's Presidential Inauguration, as Barack Obama is sworn in for a second term on the Capitol steps.
