As New York City prepares itself for a pre-holiday visit from Kate Middleton and Prince William, many residents of the five boroughs are wondering how the royal couple will spend their time in NYC.

Most of the itinerary is being kept under wraps, but we now know that Will and Kate will become the first members of the royal family to pay a visit to Brooklyn, attend an NBA game…and party with an American king.

Yes, the royals will be sitting courtside when the Brooklyn Nets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 8.

Naturally, Will and Kate will get the whole VIP experience, including a meet-and-greet and photo session with LeBron James – for which they’ll reportedly be paid a cool million in cash:

Okay, so technically the million will go to the royals’ wildlife preservation charity, but it’s still an awfully nice way for the NBA to thank the Prince and the Duchess for stopping by the BK to hang with ‘Bron.

And what would motivate the league to shell out that kind of cash just to get Duchess Kate and King James under the same roof?

Well, as you might imagine a pic of them together is virtually guaranteed to go viral, which the NBA views as an opportunity increase its international brand-recognition:

“It’s an incredible publicity coup for the NBA,” a source tells the Daily Mail. “The images of them together will be seen all over the world…A million bucks is a small price to pay for the publicity the NBA’s going to get.

Here’s hoping the Duchess takes the court during warm-ups. If the footage of Kate dominating a touch-screen video game from last week is any indication, girl might have a killer cross-over.
