The ratings are at an all-time low for The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and appropriately, the ladies are being paid considerably less than their West Coast counterparts.
Yesterday, we filled you in on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills salaries, and the astonishing thing about those figures was just how much the ladies of RHOBH earn by being professionally catty.
Today, we're flipping the script and sharing the considerably lower sums being doled out to the Housewives of Jersey for season six.
Don't get us wrong: Teresa Giudice and company are still being paid a tidy sum to share their lives with Bravo viewers, but we imagine when she found out what the other stars of the franchise were making, Teresa let her famous Italian temper flare.
RHONJ is an unusual case in that despite having just kicked off its sixth season, the show features mostly new or newly-reinstated cast members. Those women pull in a reported $100,000 per season.
Not bad, but only one-fifth of the $500,000 being paid to Lisa Vanderpump and Brandi Glanville for season 5 of RHOBH.
Of course, new-comers typically start off in a lower tax bracket than the veteran cast members, and receive incremental raises for each successive season.
So it's no surprise that Amber Marchese, Teresa Aprea, Nicole Napolitano and Dina Manzo (who returned to the show after a three-year hiatus) are paid so little.
What is surprising is that seasoned Housewives Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga received only $250,000 from Bravo this year, particularly since Teresa's legal troubles provided most of the drama for the season six premiere!
Sure, a quarter mill to be followed by a camera crew for a few months is a pretty sweet deal, but it's gotta sting knowing that there's a group of women working the same gig for twice the cash in a much nicer climate.
