WARNING, pet-loving readers of The Hollywood Gossip: the following photo gallery will make you cry.
But it will also make you smile.
As first reported by BuzzFeed, the Roberts family learned in May that their beloved Black Labrador, Duke, had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer.
They scheduled his euthanization with a local veterinarian, but first decided to send Duke out on the happiest note possible.
His final day included hamburgers… time with friends… and splashing through a water park.
"It was beautiful, really. One thing just fell into the next," said photographer Robyn Arouty, who was hired to document the day. "It started with the hamburgers, then the boys came over, then other friends…
"And then Duke walked under ‘The Rainbow Bridge,’ which is ironically also a term used for the place where pets go when they die. I felt honored."
