Zendaya Coleman is out.
Alexandra Shipp is in.
A few weeks after Zendaya dropped out of the upcoming Lifetime biopic based on the life and tragic death of singer Aaliyah, producer Wendy Williams has Tweeted that Ship will take her place.
"I’m excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/ @DebraMChase. Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aaliyah," Williams wrote online this morning.
Zendaya came under fire as soon as she was announced Aaliyah, mostly due to her her light skin tone.
The actress tried to remain above the fray, Tweeting that all she wants to do is "honor" the late artist. But the critics would not shut up.
Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, will be based on the biography, Aaliyah: More Than a Woman and tell the story of a star who was killed at the age of 22 in a plane crash.
Shipp, meanwhile, is best known for her role on Nickelodeon's House of Anubis.
