Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive standout Hugh Douglas has been fired by ESPN after allegedly calling his co-host Michael Smith an "Uncle Tom."

Douglas, co-host of Numbers Never Lie, reportedly got into a heated altercation with Smith at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention.

At the Florida event last week, Hugh allegedly hurled the racially charged insult at Smith (both are African-American), who he also reportedly threatened to beat up.

Douglas never confirmed the incident, but ESPN had previously told media outlets they were "aware there was a disagreement" between the two men.

ESPN then fired Douglas moments ago.

Douglas tweeted, "I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time."

I will keep this office environment because of the humility essential of any one who serves over 20 million many people,' mentioned Wilson. 'And I will do the trick tirelessly to adhere for the anticipations of our many people and relentlessly strive to deliver them the superb program which they deserve.
