Tamera Mowry: I Was a 29-Year-Old Virgin!

Tamera Mowry revealed yesterday that she waited until she was 29 to lose her virginity, and has only been with one person, husband Adam Housley.

"I don't know how to explain this," the co-host of The Real told an Atlanta radio station. "I'm religious, so I waited until I was 29 to lose my virginity."

The star confessed that she lost her virginity to Housley when they were dating - before they were married - and immediately regretted doing so.

After her first time, she waited until their wedding - three years later - to have sex with him again. A born again virgin, to quote Bachelor Sean Lowe.

“You may not understand this [but] I did it, then I felt guilty, then I became celibate until I got married," said Mowry, now 35 and the mother of one.

During the interview, Mowry was applauded for abstinence by one of her co-hosts, Adrienne Bailon (who recently nixed her Rob Kardashian tattoo).

"Just because you only had sex with one person doesn't mean you're not a freak and I think that that's a good thing," Bailon told Mowry of her choice.

"I think people think that you could only be a freak by doing it with a bunch of people. You can be a freak and just be a freak with one person."

"That is beautiful and dope."

First let me just say am a huge huge fun of Tia & Tamera, this gals are just amazing. they take holy wood in style and are exellent at balancing family and their fame. Mostly though i related more to Tamera jst bcoz we have a number of things in common, like personal values, protective nature (am also an elder sister and very protective of my siblings), style, adventures and religious values. ...am turning 24 in october and still a virgin, it has been challenging to stick to my values with all the temptatins and it has even caused me a relatinship. I have had doubts as well as a result and i just want to say that reading this right now motivates me to stick to my personal values about waiting because knowing myself i know i would also regret if i rush to doing it. ...Thank you Tamera for sharing and in turn reminding me that it really is possible and i applaude you for the same. ...however am curious, did your choice have any affect on your relationship and past relationships before ur husband? And how did u handle it?

I love tia

I think the concept of reclaiming one's virginity is developing nicely thanks to people like Tamera Mowry and Sean Lowe. It has a way to go. Even some religious people scoff at the term. I'm trying to get a conversation about it going here at my site: Can you be a Born Again Virgin?
