The body of Frank Castillo, a former major league pitcher, was found at the bottom of a lake Monday in Maricopa County, Arizona. He was 44 years old.
He was boating with family and friends on Bartlett Lake, about 60 miles from Phoenix, when he decided to go swimming and ended up drowning.
A poor swimmer, according to his family, he didn’t surface and a 911 call was placed. A dive team from the sheriff’s office began a search late Sunday.
Castillo's body was recovered Monday.
Castillo went 82-104 with a 4.56 ERA in 13 years for the Cubs, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins.
