Rupert Murdoch Divorce: News Corp. CEO to Split from Wendi Deng

by at .  Updated at . Comments

The third time was not the charm for Rupert Murdoch.

It's been confirmed that the News Corp. CEO is filing for divorce from his third wife, Wendi Deng, a 44-year old who has two children with the 82-year old executive and who once saved his life from a pie tin attack.

No basis was given for the split, though a spokesman tells CNBC that the marriage has been irretrievably broken for more than six months.

The pair wed in 1999.

The divorce filing arrives mere days before the split of News Corp. into two companies: one for its entertainment assets and the other for its publishing business. There's no basis right now to believe the personal news and professional news are related, however.

Murdoch's previous divorce, from his wife of 32 years, cost the CEO $1.7 billion and is considered one of the most expensive in history.

He was recently said by Forbes to have a net worth of over $11 billion, so it's safe to assume Wendi won't be leaving him empty-handed either.
