Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Release Date: Summer 2014!

The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is reportedly set for a summer release.

Summer of 2014, but hey, what can you do. Let the anticipation build!

Adam Fogelson, Chairman of Universal Pictures, says the studio has "prioritized" the film and wants to have it in theaters as "early" as summer 2014.

"I understand why some people might take that point of view that the film won't be here soon enough," the movie exec said, explaining the timetable."

"But I don’t believe that EL James had any interest in rushing it into production. I don’t believe that the second or third film would have benefited from that strategy."

Also, he adds, "I think that there are totally legitimate questions about what this book is as a movie. I will tell you that it is an absolute priority for us."

"It’s conceivable it could be ready for release as early as next summer."

Obviously you can only fast track something like this so much. It's part love story, part romantic thriller, part cheesy Twilight fan fiction, part soft-core porn.

Not exactly an open-and-shut page-to-screen adaptation right there.

A quality film, whatever formula execs settle on, will undoubtedly set the Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed movies up to be even better.

So, better to just be patient. As for who should play Christian and Ana, EL James says she has some names in mind, though it's "not who you might expect."

If that means no Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, we are gonna be pissed. Just kidding. Well, mostly. We'd be open to her ideas, but a little pissed.
