Neil Patrick Harris Super Bowl Ad: Does It Mock Christianity?

by at .

Controversy is swirling over a new CBS ad for Super Bowl XLVII, which stars Neil Patrick Harris and features a shot of him wearing a football player's eye black with the date of the big game written across the front.

Because mediocre quarterback Tim Tebow is known to scrawl bible verse references across his eye black, a writer for WND.com believes CBS is clearly making fun of the religion with this spot.

Neil Patrick Harris Super Bowl Ad Still

The site quotes a viewer of the commercial as saying the network is "pushing a gay agenda by using [Harris], and they’re mocking Christians at the same time.”

Harris, of course, stars on How I Met Your Mother and came out of the closet in 2006.

Do you agree with this connection? Is CBS making fun of Christians by having a famous gay person wearing eye black with letters across it?

(Saw "Super Bowl Gay-la?" on Google. BTW, how come Culliver, accidentally speaking for 97%, needs "re-education," but Ayanbadejo, purposely angering the 97%, doesn't?) Super Bowl Gay-la? Jesus stated in Luke 17 that just before His return to earth as Judge, two big "crazes" will happen worldwide at the same time: (1) insane violence ("days of Noah"), and (2) outrageous sexual perversion ("days of Lot" - see Gen. 19). Aren't beheadings, cannibalism, and school shootings violent? And what's more perverted than a mob trying to rape LITERAL angels (see Gen. 19 again)?! So, America, keep spitting on God but you'd better duck when He spits back!! (PS - For a bigger enchilada, Google "when DIVERSITY becomes PERVERSITY.") / Glimpsed the above on the net. Ian /

You have got to be kidding me! Obviously CBS chose Neil Patrick Harris for this ad because he is the most famous/loved actor on its most popular show. Whoever thinks it mocks Christianity is WAY too sensitive!

When you cite the cretins at World Nut Daily (the only people seemingly offended by this) as a legitimate news source, you shoot your credibility in the foot. They search high and low for this sort of controversy in order to gin up some PR for their extremist, right wing organization and Hilton Hater is happy to oblige. Besides, Tebow does not own this practice. It has been done by athletes for years. Shame on THG for furthering this non-story.

seriously!!! I still don't know why Tim bobo is popular... I keep hearing about him and i'm thinking why??? So back to the awesome Neil Patrick Harris! MORE POWER TO YOU!!!! So you mean to tell me that wearing black eyes and scribbling bible verses is sacriligious!!!!! WTF! So if some over zealous religious guy decides to start engraving verses on a hockey stick or a basketball player starts doing that on his headband and someone uses it for advertising purposes it would be WRONG???? Oh go suck on a stick! People need to stop trying to make everything about their religion. I'm so watching the superbowl on Sunday AND i'm going to wear black eyes and write down *underdog team name* BOBO doesn't own rights to that look... so Yeah keep rocking it Harris!
