Jon Bon Jovi's daughter Stephanie Bongiovi will not face criminal charges after her alleged heroin overdose at Hamilton College this week.

The Oneida County (N.Y.) District Attorney's Office says it is dismissing all criminal charges against the rock legend's 19-year-old daughter.

The 21-year-old male student involved with Stephanie Bongiovi's overdose is also in the clear - legally, at least. Jon may have some words for him ...

Stephanie was arrested after being treated by emergency medical personnel following the alleged overdose in her dorm room on Wednesday.

Police said afterward that a drug task force found small quantities of heroin in the Dunham Hall room, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Stephanie Bongiovi was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

The 21-year-old guy also charged with drug possession.

The D.A. says the charges were dropped, however, because of a New York State law that specifically prohibits prosecution of people experiencing a drug overdose.

The people who help them seek medical care are also exempt from prosecution; the justification being that more lives will probably be saved this way.

Here's wishing Stephanie a speedy recovery, and hoping she gets the help she needs.

We are a drug-infested culture. No one, rich, poor, famous or infamous is immune to our modern day, American nightmare. I have has the pleasure of meeting Stephanie several times when she worked at her father's restaurant in East Hampton. She is a gracious, hardworking young woman, and she is a wake-up call for all of us. Because she is a celebrities daughter, this makes front page news. Had she been just the girl next door, it wouldn't have made a bleep on the radar. This happening to all our children...

This girl needs counseling not jail!

Let her pay the price just like every other heroin Oh- Dee-er.
It's goes without saying that the kid's was gonna skate.

I hate to hear of another story of someone's child struggling with an obvious chemical dependency.
My heartand prayers go out to him and his family. What a truly frightening thing to go through. I hope she gets the help she needs and sobers up for good.

Stephanie, parents rarely recover from their children carelessly killing themselves due to drug overdoses. Not even Rock Stardom spares parents the overwhelming grief their child's death causes. I hope you've learned something from this experience, correct your course & make your parents proud - more like prouder than they already are of you. You can do it:-)

......she was simply bored.(life is just a ball game)

This one story I am sorry to read. Hope this young woman gets the grip she needs and can get and stay clean. Life is too short and I am sure hers is well worth living.
