Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Break Up!

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have broken up after dating for over a year and a half. It's over. The split to end all celebrity gossip splits took place last week.

Selena, apparently, was the one who ended it.

Says a source close to the cute, former couple:

"She broke up with him about a week ago. With them being apart so much it got complicated. She had some trust issues. It's not easy, but the relationship needed to end."

It's unclear what "trust issues" those were, or if their breakup, which was first reported by E! News, was prompted by anything more than the strain of long distance.

Selena, 20, and Justin, 18, went public in February 2011.

They fought off breakup rumors on numerous occasions since then but seemed relatively stable, frequently going on dates and looking very happy together.

He was recently linked to Barbara Palvin, however. Major red flag.

Many rabid Bieber fans, affectionately or pejoratively known as Beliebers, have had it in for Selena Gomez since day one, attacking her 24/7 via the Internet.

"It hurts, it really does," she admitted this year.

"I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong. I've been best friends with him for a very long time. It does hurt my feelings a lot, but I try not to focus on it."

Not a problem anymore, at least. Silver lining?
