Michelle Duggar Suffers Miscarriage With 20th Child

by at . Comments

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar announced some sad news today.

A month after they announced her pregnancy with their 20th child, their doctor was unable to find a heartbeat and told her she suffered a miscarriage.

"After the appointment, we came back home and told the children," says Michelle, 45. "We had just been talking about baby names last night and they were getting excited about naming a boy or a girl. It has been a real sad disappointment."

She says the family will select a name after they know if the baby, miscarried in the second trimester, was a boy or girl, and then plan to have a funeral.

"I feel like my heart broke telling my children," says Michelle. "They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult."

Still, she adds that the family's faith perseveres: "The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him."

The stars of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting weathered myriad medical ordeal with their youngest daughter, Josie-Brookyln, born in December 2009.

This is actually her second miscarriage. Michelle lost a baby during her second pregnancy. She was taking oral birth control then, citing that as a big reason the pair decided they'd leave the number of children they have "up to God."

In light of these events, should the Duggars still try for a 20th?

I can understand some of the concerns are that some of the public has towards the growth of YOUR FAMILY!!! I am one of twelve children. I know what it's like to be number eleven. I want you to know that it's good that you continue to do what is best for each and every one of you. Take care of yourself Michelle. Continue to show the world what a family is: Love, sticking together, and working to help each other. Isn't that why Jesus was Here? To show us how to LOVE EACH OTHER, to be an example??
I say YES!!!! I lost my daughter nine years ago, at age 40. I have missed her so much. I was 20 1/2 weeks along with her, she was 10 inches long, 15 ounces, and lived for ten minutes. My heart breaks for you. Pinch all your babies, young and old, hug them twice and tell them and show them how much you LOVE THEM INDIVIDUALLY AND SEPARATELY!!!
In Christs' Love, MargaretMary

Dear Michelle & Jim Bob,
Thank You for showing the entire world what the true meaning of what a family is all about. Love, sticking together, and working to help each other thru good times and bad. I am so Sorry for you losing Jublilee. I know that she truly is in heaven. Maybe to help all the aborted babies,
to comfort and to welcome them into heaven. Jubilee has a job in heaven that only God knows that she could do. We do have work to do in heaven. She also, is probably singing praises to Our Lord and Savior continually.
I hope that you all find peace in your heart in missing her. I know you will. In Christs' Love, Margaret Mary

Messy Marriage, thank you! I often fall short and coutinne to shoot for the stars when it reality it is still just hard and moment by moment. Thanks for reading :)

The fact is, they are not trying to get pregnant at all. The religion they are following believes in "family planning" and not in the use of contraception. They understand that there are right and wrong times to have children, such as when Josie was sick, at which time they refrained from intercourse. The whole "leaving children up to God" idea has to do with these beliefs and because they are strong in their beliefs, they will accept whatever happens. This means that even though she is getting older, they embrace future pregnancies because children are a gift from God regardless of how they get here. Her fertile years are most likely coming to a close since they weren't even sure she could even get pregnant this time. Not that they were trying anyway.

The bottom line here is that Michelle’s eggs are past their prime and what proves this is the outcome of her latest pregnancies. Michelle should consider calling it quits with the “if God wants me to be pregnant I will type of attitude and reflect on how her children would feel if they were to lose her because of this. Be reasonable Michelle, do you want your children to grow up without a mother? Peace-

I sorry for your lost, but I think this is enough it not fair the the children, the oldest one our raising the younger ones and that not fair, a two year old should not be a big sister and a 15 years old should not be walking around with a baby on her hip. the youngest one have health problem I think that should tell you something. love in christ.
