RAINN Calls Out Johnny Depp for Rape Comment
He may get away with saying almost anything as Captain Jack Sparrow, but Johnny Depp is at the center of a controversy due to remarks he makes in the latest issue of Vanity Fair.
In an interview with the magazine, the actor expresses his disdain for photo shoots by comparing them to rape, actually reiterating that word for emphasis.
In response, RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) has issued the statement:
"While photos may feel at times intrusive, being photographed in no way compares to rape - a violent crime which affects another American every 2 minutes. RAINN welcomes the opportunity to speak with Mr. Depp and educate him about the real life experiences faced by survivors every day, and ways that he can work with RAINN to help."
Do you think Depp should apologize for his word choice?

Who is Rain to state how having your naked photographs taken against your will "While photos may feel at times intrusive, being photographed in no way compares to rape" -should feel -- my hero --
Johnny Depp - Yes it is exactly like rape if there is a constant reminder of the photos and people gave you drugs to accomplish the photos. Just because most young women are conditioned to "get used to the photos" or what ever else does not mean it is not offensive?
So today men can call a woman profanity at work numerous times and have "no worries" about the repercussions. A sad portion of men feel they can pressure women to do things. Oh well, at long as it wasnt rape? That should be a good stance to take publicly, yeah condone where the treatment of woman are going >> to absurd levels of low
How dare you ever comment on Johnny Depp in the fashion to assault him for his beliefs or whimsical statements of how some woman feel

When they took photos of me against me will in the swimming pool, I felt worse than rape because the photos last forever,on top of that,
they lie and say it wasnt even me, but my mother, Marilyn Monroe

Wow... come on... "politically correct" is really boring and over-used these days. Look at Johnny's past "record" to see what the guy is about... he is NOT a hater... nor has he ever shown disdain for women or children... so why would anyone believe he had negative intentions with the expressions he used to describe how he sometimes feels? It's time for all of society to just relax a bit and stop pouncing on everything everyone says.
